The greenhouse was established in the fall of 2005. You can see pictures from its construction by clicking here.

We got a late start on the growing season, but our efforts and experiments have been fruitful thus far. We've had fresh salad greens on average of three times a week since the end of December. The progress of the broccoli and carrots has been disappointing, but I'm attributing that to our late start. The secret is the cold frame within the cold frame.

On sunny days the cold frame cover is removed. On a 20 degree day, greenhouse temperatures average around 60 degrees. If the cold frame cover is not removed, inside temperatures climb into the 80's. The cold frame is constructed from an old waterbed frame, remnants from an old trampoline, and old tent poles.
